IRELAND (Take the Kids series)
2nd edition, 2006
About this book...
All you need to make the most of a family trip to Ireland – without breaking the bank! The tranquility of Ireland’s breathtaking scenery and liveliness of its people encourage fun and adventure, whether travelers enjoy beachcombing, hill trekking, horse riding, dolphin watching, visiting zoos and folk museums, or indigenous sporting events like hurling. From Dublin to Donegal, Cork to the Kingdoms of Down, city and country activities are assessed and recommended, while Irish proverbs, mythological stories, folklore, history and traditional games bring sights alive.
Practical advice enables parents to relax in warm, welcoming atmospheres that are amenable to families while they tune in to a way of life close to Nature.
Submitted for a Lowell Thomas award by its original publisher Globe Pequot, its successful imprint Cadogan Guides was virtually shut down after 9/11 and later bought by New Holland Publishers, which transferred its editorial operations to Australia, whose managers decided not to reprint the guidebook. A new publisher, Fox Chapel in the US, has bought New Holland's stock of travel imprints now.
Out of date but it can still be found.
